Following Superstorm Sandy, CNBC's capital markets editor Gary Kaminsky blasted Mayor Michael Bloomberg for going ahead with the New York City Marathon during "Squawk On The Street".
Here's Kaminsky (emphasis ours):
"Finally, this is something I do have a strong opinion about. I've run the New York City Marathon. I love the New York City Marathon. I think, and a lot of people have said to me this morning, and it's been overwhelming, that Bloomberg has lost his mind. The idea here, locally, to run this New York City Marathon called this Sunday. What is Bloomberg thinking? The fact that Staten Island, one of the hardest hit areas, they're going to put 50,000 people out there right now where most people out there have no electricity, don't have running water. The thoughts of what it is here... Again, if you're watching this in California or you're watching this in the mid-west, you probably don't get it...The idea that this is happening. This may be in fact the biggest disaster of his 12 years."
