Spidey's Green Goblin says new pic can't match 'charm' of Raimi's ...

Norman Osborn's Green Goblin may have been a major player in Sam Raimi's original trilogy of Spider-Man films, but that classic character was relegated to the shadows (literally) in Marc Webb's recent reboot. So what does the original Goblin, Willem Dafoe, think of the new film? Apparently, not much.

In an interview with Empire, Dafoe was asked about the reboot coming so soon after Raimi's trilogy—and though he hasn't seen it, he said he doesn't believe it can match the "charm" of the 2002 original:

"I have lots of thoughts. Where do I start? I haven't seen it. I don't know what to say. I will say that I did see the preview and I was kind of shocked at how it's another version of exactly the same story. Surprising. I wish them well, but I think it's hard to beat the charm, the naive charm, of the first one. There's never really any possibility of going back."

Considering Webb and company went for a grittier, more realistic take this time around, I suppose it could be said that it was missing that vibe that made Raimi's trilogy so recognizable—but worse because of it? I just don't know.

What do you think? Which Spidey do you prefer?
