KENT—
U.S. Marshalls have apprehended two men wanted in connection with a shooting that took place at a car show on July 23, 2011 in Kent. Twelve people were injured, 10 with gunshot wounds after shots were fired at the La Raza low-rider show.
The two men were identified as Nicolas E. Moreno, street name "Dreamer" and Ignacio Trevino-Vasquez, street name "Chito" by Kent Police on Thursday. Kent detectives are taking over the investigation.
"We're delighted that the Marshalls were able to locate and arrest these two men so quickly" said Kent Police Lieutenant Pat Lowery.
Patrick Auble was sentenced July 6, 2012 to one year in jail for his role in the shootings. Auble was convicted by a jury in May on one count of rendering criminal assistance in the first degree. He was accused of hiding one of the vehicles that the shooters used to leave the scene and also of threatening to destroy evidence.
The incident prompted King County executive Dow Constantine to authorization the allocation of $1.4 million to combat gang activity in the area. The Sheriff's Office previously announced that it is estimated there are more than 10,000 gang members and 140 gangs in King County and that gang-related crime has increased 165 percent since 2005.
"These arrests are just the first round" said Lt. Lowery, "and we anticipate additional arrests will be coming in the next few weeks."
