The Trending topics you're used to seeing on Twitter are organized by place—a city, a region, or worldwide. But now the company is making them a little more specific, with Tailored Trends.
This new feature will offer topics based on the people you follow as well as your location. It begins a gradual rollout today, and once you get it, these targeted trends will be the default setting on twitter.com, as well as your mobile app (iPhone and Android). So if you'd rather just see a general list of timely, relevant subjects, you'll have to change your location on the main site. And you can always switch back and forth. It could be a cool way to look inside a specific group of people, and it would be even better if Twitter would let you apply it to just one of your lists, rather than everyone you follow.
