This fourth article discusses about the currently trending topic which is KONY 2012. The 30-minute video has gained recognition worldwide and has more than 5million tweets.  The video entitled KONY 2012 shows the horrible turmoil that is happening is Uganda caused by a warlord Josepth Kony, the leader of a rebel army called Lord's Resistance Army. This video aims to gain worldwide support by making Kony 'famous' thus putting pressure on the US policymakers to prevent them from withdrawing their support from the cause and to continue the search for Kony. As the popularity of the video to rise so does the concern for legitimacy of the information in the video. There have been critics who have concentrated on the inaccuracy of the fact that are contained while there are others who question the Invisible Children financial status.

The relationship between media and social movements are crucial to one another. Social movements need the media to spread their cause in order to gain popularity while the media is always looking for trending topics. However, there have always been problems in the delivering of the message. There have also been allegations where video makers of KONY 2012 are using the public to gain profit (Lawino, 2012).

There have been various different types of social movement throughout history and there have been quite a number of them who have made social different with their cause. However, the conventional media has been known to systematically distort, ignore and negative cast social movement viewpoints (Stein 2009, pp. 750). The media controls what information is being published and they could easily deny a social movement's representation at critical moments of its development.

Unfortunately, media exposure remains a primary source for many of the social movements out there. In conclusion, there will always be problems with information distributed to the public due to the media's constant pressure to meet with society's hunger for fresh and new exciting news.
