I have been fortunate enough to walk across a stage to receive a diploma or degree four times in my lifetime so far. I have also been even more fortunate to see many friends and family walk across a stage to get their diplomas as well.....and each time, we always here the warning, "Please hold your cheers until the ceremony is done so that all names can be heard". Well with all the warnings on paper and being told at ceremonies....I don't think I've ever seen these "warnings" obeyed. I mean when your kid, friend, relative is up there walking that stage; it is only in our nature to want to scream of joy. We all go through different trials to earn that moment, but some go through even harder times and struggles and so its an even prouder moment. For the most part, the individuals walking across the stage do want to hear cheers when their name is called....it makes it that much more special. For those that are watching, you can't help overcome the joy and excitement to see them walk and receive their diplomas....afterall they truly earned it. So I can never understand why the big "stink" on cheering.....no matter how noisy or crazy people have been; in all the ceremonies I have been apart of or been to, I can still hear every name being called. And in all these ceremonies, I am always given a event program which shows their names and in what order they are called in....and so if you follow along you should not miss when your friend or relative is called so you can cheer as well. In the following story, a mom gets arrested because she cheered for her child. I don't understand how their can be real criminals out there but yet we have time to arrest a parent that cheers on her child in excitement. How sad and pathetic is our world coming to? I know I was not there and don't know all the facts, but to get arrested is crazy. If the mom was assaulting someone or drunk at the event, than I could understand.....but to go to jail for cheering, c'mon! Can't we all just agree to cheer and move on....I don't think anything can stop us from being excited and letting our emotions get the best of us at these Graduation ceremonies.
