Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel joked he is going to run the marathon anyway and "WIN!"

Forget uptowners with power vs. downtowners living in a blackout, Manhattan is currently divided in two over the topic of the New York City Marathon.

For the first time in its history, Mayor Bloomberg canceled the race after controversy over resources being used to aid runners instead of victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Celebrities weighed in on the issue, tweeting whether they were for or against the historical decision. And an overwhelming amount agreed.

While some took the matter very seriously, others took the opportunity to make a joke. See where celebrities stand on the issue:

Pro-canceling the marathon:

Anderson Cooper: "Cop on Staten Island tells me "it's chaos here. It's bad. Police cars are running out of gas." And they were going to have a marathon here?!"

Andy Cohen: "Mayor Bloomberg gets it right canceling the marathon."

Snooki: "Go team! Help the people!!'@snooki they cancelled the NYC Marathon due to a public uproar. Yay! Feel accomplished? I do."

Bethenny Frankel: "Thank God the marathon has been canceled. That was awkward."

Ricky Martin: "4 a second I thought it was a gr8 idea 4 the NYC marathon not to b canceled. I CHANGE MY MIND. My heart goes out to all the victims. #Sandy."

Mario Lopez: "Glad to hear NYC marathon was canceled. I ran it last year, great event.. But all resources should go to people in need in that region now."

Russell Simmons: "Great idea! RT @INGcleanupday: @unclerush help turn the cancelled marathon into a massive community service effort?

Lisa Rinna: "Thank god they cancelled the nyc marathon. This city needs all the focus to be on relief!"

Model Chrissy Teigen wasn't as ecstatic about the cancelation as her fellow celebs.

The only celeb who tried to see things from the other point of view was Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and soon-to-be Mrs. John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, who wrote:

Christine Teigen: "Not gonna cheer at the fact the marathon has been cancelled, as I personally know people who sacrificed a lot, a lot to run it for charity."

Funny reactions:

Jimmy Kimmel: "I'm running the NYC Marathon anyway and I'm going to WIN!"

Joy Behar: "What do you mean they cancelled Sunday's #NYCMarathon? That can't be true. Paul Ryan already announced that he won it."

Rainn Wilson: "ATTN: NYC Marathoners. Hosting my own private marathon on Sunday. Meet me at Hunts Point, Bronx at 5 am. Bring cash."

Denis Leary: "Here's an idea: Gas Truck Marathon. Start in Staten Island, finish in New Jersey."

Jim Gaffigan: "I'm glad they canceled the New York City Marathon. Now let's get to work on ending all physical activity."

Michael Ian Black: "This sucks because I'm pretty sure I was going to win the marathon this year."
