A RECENT NEWS ARTICLE NAMES MISSISSIPPI AS NUMBER ONE IN THE NATION... FOR THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACES TO DRIVE.
BUT SOME OF OUR TOP TRANSPORTATION OFFICIALS SAY IT'S NOT TRUE...
THE ARTICLE ORIGINALLY CAME FROM THE "TRUST FOR AMERICA'S HEALTH GROUP".
THEIR STUDY FOUND MISSISSIPPI'S AVERAGE CAR CRASH FATALITIES TO BE OVER 700 A YEAR.
M-H-P OFFICIALS... AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONER ALBERT SANTA CRUZ SAYS... OUR FATALITIES ARE ACTUALLY DOWN SINCE LAST YEAR .
THEY SAY THE NUMBERS FROM THE STUDY ARE OUTDATED.
" if you go back to 2009 that would probably be an accurate story they'd be running but this is 2012. Mississippi has made great strides when it comes to traffic safety" says Sargent Johnny Poulos
TRUST FOR AMERICA'S HEALTH TOLD US... THEIR NUMBERS ARE FROM THE C-D-C... AND THEIR NUMBERS ARE AVERAGES BASED ON A 3 YEAR PERIOD.
