It's been several weeks since we've seen The Miz on WWE television. That's because he's starring in a movie (don't get excited, it's a WWE movie). But since the shoot is wrapping up very soon, Miz will be making his return to WWE television, and as a Miz fan, I'd like to think he'll be making a splash when he comes back.
Miz's back burner positioning (for lack of a better phrase) has been well documented here. And maybe, for a guy who was so involved in top WWE storylines for a good year if not more, the short break has done the character good. Now, Miz can come back out of his slump he was in before he left as motivated and successful as ever.
Problem is, where does he fit in WWE's puzzle?
He'll likely be slotted into a Money in the Bank match and get some sort of place holder story to get him onto the SummerSlam card. But to me, JUST doing that feels like a wasted opportunity. In my mind, Miz shouldn't come back as just another heel. He should come back as a pissed off heel. An angry man with a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove.
His first target? Randy Orton. The reason? Simple. Sure, Miz landed a movie role, but he only did so when WWE was asked not to put Orton in the movie. Miz could come back steaming that he played second choice to Randy Orton. He should be the first, last and only choice for starring role in a movie. He's a STAR. Say he costs Orton Money in the Bank and beats him at SummerSlam.
Miz's next target? The Rock. C'mon, Rock has pretty much been the bane of Miz's life for the last year. Even though he won at WrestleMania 27, he undoubtedly got overlooked in the whole feud because of The Rock's big return. Miz's WrestleMania moment was stolen by The Rock. Miz's big chance at Survivor Series was stolen by The Rock. And since Rock, he hasn't been the same.
I doubt WWE would want to put Miz over Rock, if they could get this deal done. No offence to Miz. And that's fine. Miz doesn't have to win, he just has to look good in losing. Maybe even beat the living shit out of Rock afterwards. Put him on the shelf to explain Rock's absence until next appearance around WrestleMania season. It doesn't even necessarily have to be followed up.
Then we've got Royal Rumble time. I don't see why, if Miz has enough momentum, WWE couldn't give him the Royal Rumble match. As for who he chooses, I'd have him choose the World Heavyweight Championship. Remember, Miz has a point to prove. His next point is that he can bring the World Championship out of it's lesser status and into prominence. He's a STAR.
That brings us to WrestleMania. After 8 months of building this up, Miz wins at WrestleMania. But not clean, he can win under suspicious circumstances. He gets called on his bullshit, and gets told that if he really wants to prove a point, to back his claim up, he should beat the ex-champion again fairly. The rest is debatable.
I have no doubt this probably won't happen. It's probably not even a good idea once you get passed SummerSlam. In all honesty, this was nothing more than a huge Miz fan jerking off. But I stand by my point that Miz should come back with a point to prove. He's done his time of being on the downturn, it's time we get awesome again.
