Annandale VA: Race with Grace Snow Cone Lemonade Stand ... Jun 17th 2012, 13:30 | Grace and Tucker | The event is hosted by Grace Sprano, a 4-year-old miracle child who beat cancer, and her sister Emily and brother Tucker. They are hoping to spread awareness to the local community about childhood cancer and sell snow cones to raise money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, an organization that supports pediatric cancer research. The Sprano kids have raised $2,750 so far; their goal is $5,000. Contributions can be made online on the Race with Grace page. Grace was diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma when she was just 5 weeks old. She underwent three cycles of chemotherapy, two major surgeries, and many painful injections and transfusions. It was all an extremely difficult ordeal for Grace and her family, but against all odds, Grace was declared free of cancer a year later. She is the only baby known to have survived with that diagnosis. She subsequently survived two bouts of pneumonia and today is a healthy, lively, and adorable child. There is a video about Grace's story on You Tube produced by her mother, Alene Sprano, and you can learn more on her Childhood Cancer Heroes page. Source | |
